Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which transfers power from the battery to the starter motor.
The electrical current activates both the starter motor and the starter drive (Bendix gear system), engaging the vehicle’s flywheel. As the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles.
Once the engine is running, the connection between starter motor and flywheel disengages automatically, as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
