Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transmits the charge from the vehicle’s battery to the starter motor, activating it along with the starter drive (Bendix gear system).
The electrical charge engages the vehicle’s flywheel, and as the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate the combustion process. Once the engine is running properly, the mechanism disconnects the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark.
