Note: Manual starters don’t break control circuits during power loss, which may cause automatic motor restart when power returns – an important safety consideration for certain applications.
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component directs power from the battery to the starter motor, which engages the starter drive (Bendix gear system) and subsequently the vehicle’s flywheel.
The starter motor turns the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles. Once the engine is running independently, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as external electrical assistance is no longer required.
