Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transmits the charge from the vehicle’s battery to the starter motor, activating it along with the starter drive (Bendix gear system). The electrical charge engages the vehicle’s flywheel, cranking the engine to initiate combustion in petrol and diesel vehicles.
Once the engine operates correctly, the mechanism disconnects the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark to maintain operation.
